La gestión de enseñanza y aprendizaje de inglés en el departamento de idiomas de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas de la Universidad de Guayaquil y la competitividad del profesional egresado

Resumen
El presente trabajo de investigación, llevado a cabo en el departamento de idiomas de la facultad de ciencias administrativas de la Universidad de Guayaquil desde Abril hasta Diciembre del 2014, tiene como finalidad esencial determinar la situación actual y proponer mejoras en la gestión de enseñanza y aprendizaje del idioma inglés del profesional y su competitividad en las carreras ofrecidas por la facultad. El punto de partida para identificar y plantear el problema, fue la observación e indagación por parte de los investigadores, luego se establecieron los respectivos objetivos. Al inicio se realizó un breve diagnóstico de la situación de la subunidad académica investigada, luego una revisión bibliográfica para el desarrollo del marco teórico, paralelamente al trabajo de campo. Esta investigación corresponde a un estudio no experimental, cuyo enfoque es de carácter mixto, cualitativo y cuantitativo, siendo además, de tipo teórico y práctico. Pasa por dos tipos o niveles de investigación, primero es exploratoria, luego descriptiva. Se toman tres poblaciones; profesores de inglés y estudiantes del departamento de idiomas, así como profesionales egresados de la facultad, excluyendo del cálculo la muestra de los profesores por ser una población muy reducida. Los resultados cuantitativos y cualitativos fueron obtenidos a través de la técnica de la encuesta y organizando las observaciones y entrevistas en una matriz de categorización con su debido detalle respectivamente. Del análisis de todos los resultados en concordancia con el sustento teórico parten las respectivas conclusiones y recomendaciones.
The present research was carried out in the Foreign Language Department at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Guayaquil, from April to December of 2014. The goal is threefold: Determine the current situation of the previously stated department, propose teaching improvements and better learning strategies appropriate for all English undergraduate programs offered by this faculty, and enhance professionals’ competitiveness as related to their English studies. The starting point for identifying and stating the issue was the observations and investigations of the couple of researchers. Initially a brief diagnosis was conducted over the state of this investigated academic subunit. Then the respective objectives were set in place. A thorough literature review was done to develop the theoretical framework, and meanwhile the fieldwork was conducted. This research corresponds to a non-experimental study with the characteristic of mixed focuses, qualitative and quantitative, furthermore being theoretical and practical. It passes through two levels of research, it is at first exploratory and then descriptive. The study was taken from the following three populations: English teachers and students of the foreign language department, and also graduates of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences. However, because the population of English teachers was so small it was thus excluded from the calculation. Both the quantitative and qualitative results were obtained through a survey form, organizing the observations and interviews into a category matrix with its respective detail. From the analysis of all the results in concordance with the theoretical framework, the respective conclusions and recommendations are split.
