Diastema orthodontic management typically caused by a frenulum in adult patients occurs due to a large labial frenum. The labial frenum is the piece of tissue that normally extends from the inside of the upper lip to the area just above the two anterior upper teeth. In some situations, the growing labial frenum blocks the natural closing of the space between the teeth. Bad teeth habits such as sucking your thumb can tends to pull the front teeth forward; thus, creating gaps. Objectives: Determine the diastema orthodontic management caused by frenulum in adult patients. Its etiology is to establish the frenulum - diastema relationship, identify the different types of orthodontic treatments, and describe the protocol of care used in orthodontic treatments. Methodology: non-experimental-transverse-descriptive study. Methods: Theoretical. Results: if recidive is not controlled after the mechanical and surgical intervention, the treatment will fail. Recommendations: By means of this information, it is recommended that an orthodontic treatment should be either fixed or removable to avoid recidive.
