La Gastroenteritis por rotavirus es un problema agudo en salud pública a nivel mundial, particularmente en países en vía de desarrollo, constituye una causa importante de hospitalización y de morbimortalidad en los pacientes menores de 5 años, con una morbilidad reportada por el INEC en el periodo 2012-2014 de 16.95% ;una de las manifestaciones extraintestinales reportadas del rotavirus es una hepatitis leve La metodología que se usó para este estudio es la recolección de datos con enfoque cuantitativo de diseño descriptivo no experimental de corte longitudinal y retrospectivo; Los resultados obtenidos fueron en base a, presencia de gastroenteritis, infección por rotavirus como etiología , pacientes pediátricos, edad entre 0 a 4 años. La discusión del comportamiento y manifestaciones clínicas de la gastroenteritis, en varios estudios comparativos se evidencia un aumento de la elevación de las transaminasas; Se recomienda tener dentro de los diagnósticos una infección por rotavirus, cuando se evalúe la etiología de una elevación de las transaminasas en paciente con gastroenteritis aguda.

The discussion of the behavior and clinical manifestations of gastroenteritis, in several comparative studies there is an evidence of an increase in the elevation of transaminases; It is recommended to have a rotavirus infection within the differential diagnoses when evaluating the etiology of a transaminase elevation in a patient with acute gastroenteritis.
