Resumen
El peso normal del neonato al nacer, se ubica entre los 2600 y 4000 gramos, calificándose como “bajo peso al nacer”, al que está por debajo de 2,5 Kg. Las razones para que esto suceda son muy variadas, pero el denominador común, es que pueden provocar efectos irreversibles, discapacidad, incluso muerte neonatal o infantil.
Este trabajo científico, tuvo como objetivo principal, indicar la prevalencia de esta patología en el hospital de la Policía Nacional G2, durante el año 2016 y 2017, estudiando los casos de 222 neonatos, también se trató de identificar factores de riesgo en el país. Para aquello, se realizó una investigación retrospectiva, analítica y documental de las historias clínicas tanto de los bebés como de sus madres durante el periodo señalado. Los gráficos se tabularon por medio de Excel, para dar a conocer diferentes aspectos que se habían querido evaluar, tanto en las madres como en sus hijos.
El análisis dio importante información acerca de cómo se llevan a cabo los tratamientos preventivos y paliativos del hospital de la Policía y si estos cumplen su cometido al reducir el porcentaje de niños con bajo peso al nacer.
The normal weight of the newborn at birth, is between 2600 and 4000 grams, qualifying as "low birth weight", which is below 2.5 Kg. The reasons for this to happen are very varied, but the denominator common, is that they can cause irreversible effects, disability, even neonatal or infant death. The main objective of this scientific work was to indicate the prevalence of this pathology in the G2 National Police hospital, during the year 2016 and 2017, studying the cases of 222 neonates, and also to identify risk factors in the country. For that, a retrospective, analytical and documentary investigation of the clinical histories of both the babies and their mothers during the period was made. The graphs were tabulated by means of Excel, to make known different aspects that had been wanted to evaluate, both in the mothers and their children. The analysis gave important information about how the preventive and palliative treatments of the police hospital are carried out and if these fulfill their purpose by reducing the percentage of children with low birth weight. Finally, it was concluded that the percentage of children with LBW was low in this hospital, when compared with the national average.
