Resumen
Recientemente varios estudios han determinado el grado de relacionamiento existente entre las cardiopatías y las enfermedades periodontales. Es un hecho científico acreditado ya de que las enfermedades de tipo periodontales son causadas por microorganismos bacterianos existentes en la cavidad oral.
En un simposio europeo, particularmente en España por parte de la asociación española de periodoncia en Oviedo se ha debatido al respecto y llego a enunciar que una enfermedad periodontal no tratada a tiempo incrementa el riesgo de entre 10 a 15 años a sufrir el riesgo de una enfermedad cardiaca y cardiopatías isquémicas.
Las opiniones están divididas a continuación se procederán a explicarlas fundamentos de parte y parte. No es una novedad desde ningún punto de vista la posibilidad de que una infección originalmente localizada tenga la capacidad de movilizarse hacia otras ubicaciones corporales.
Desde el siglo IXI este aspecto ha sido muy discutido, de hecho históricamente en 1909 los Dres. Billings y Rosenow lanzar la teoría denominada oficialmente por su título en inglés “ theory of focal infection”. La teoría surgió ante las investigaciones y sanas críticas lanzadas por los médicos hacia los odontólogos, pues se acusaba a estos de llevar a cabo tratamientos especialmente endodónticos en los cuales cepas bacterianas prevalecían ante la terapéutica y tenían la capacidad de generar infecciones y enfermedades a otras latitudes del cuerpo humano.
La metodología de esta investigación se llevó a cabo a través del uso del método empírico-analítico. Conocimiento auto correctivo y progresivo. Características de las ciencias naturales y sociales o humanas. Caracteriza a las ciencias descriptivas. Es el método general más utilizado. Se basa en la lógica empírica. Dentro de éste podemos observar

varios métodos específicos con técnicas particulares. Se distinguen los elementos de un fenómeno y se procede a revisar ordenadamente cada uno de ellos por separado.
Las experiencias obtenidas en base a los estudios citados en los antecedentes y el desarrollo de toda la investigación, han sido la fundamental herramienta para emitir la conclusión final de esta investigación.
Luego de haber procesado la información utilizada hemos llegado a determinar que: El grado de relacionamiento entre las enfermedades periodontales y las algunos tipos de cardiopatías es considerablemente alto.
