In the present work an evaluation of the growth of the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) was carried out. For this, an alternative substrate was used based on compost and compared with commercial organic fertilizers: (humus 100% (H100) and 50% (H50), compost with litter 100% (AH100) and 50% (AH50), compost with manure 100% (CE100) and 50% (EC 50), soil with fertilizer Nitrofoska (N), soil with Evergreen foliar fertilizer (EV), soil with fish effluent (T) and a soil control without fertilizer (C). experiment was initiated with the inoculation of 75 seeds in trays with each of the treatments and variables were determined on percentage of germination of seeds, height, number of leaves, thickness of the stem, presence of buttons, flowers, wet weight, length of Root and diameter of fruits up to 81 days The results obtained showed that between the use of organic commercial fertilizers and soil enriched with fertilizers on the vegetative and reproductive development, they suggest that in the treatments H50, H100, AH100, CE50, CE100 and N , they were able to meet the phenological phases of the selected tomato variety, from germination to fruiting. However, in the treatments with soils enriched with 50% fertilizer, fish effluent and control, the fructification phase was not reached. The organic fertilizers used on the basis of humus and compost with manure were the most efficient for the growth and development of the plants.
