On a general revision of the specimens hold at MZUG, indexes of data completeness, geographical representativeness and taxonomic representation were applied on the bird’s collection, especially on endangered species, as well as on the temporality of records from the beginning of the museum up to the present time. The collection is comprised of 1524 specimens, those representing 21 orders, 71 families, 272 genera and 382 species described from Ecuador. The database analysis yielded a high data completeness for the geographical representation, the best-represented zoogeographic floors are the northwestern and southwestern tropical. The taxonomic representation at specific level displayed a medium representativeness. Thirteen endangered species were recorded in the collection, from which, 10 of those are categorized as Vulnerable and 3 endangered. The temporality of records reached the peak between 1981 and 1990, recording the entry of 796 specimens. Nowadays, currently systematic incomes are rather scarce.
