The purpose of this thesis is to review and update the career curriculum management in the Chemical Engineering Faculty at the University of Guayaquil, 2012, according to the Higher Education Act (LOES) and the Board of Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CEAACES), which as mandated in the LOES, Article 180, enables CEAACES, based on features, quality indicators and standards, to develop a technical document that serves to perform the self-assessment processes, external assessment and thereby try to achieve the accreditation and categorization. In addition to curriculum management, it aims to develop the redesign of the career, considering the creation of new courses; contents revision; analyzing the amount of credits; academic, administrative and physical resources; and complying with applicable laws, statutes and regulations governing the education of chemical engineers at the University of Guayaquil. There are actually no similar studies, because the Higher Education Act and its regulations are new, recently published; therefore, the CEAACES has new provisions, for that reason the Universities, Colleges and Careers revisions must be adequately performed, in order to increase the quality of education, making improvements to the academic resources such as classrooms, library with internet, academic content, better preparation of teachers and school staff. In order to carry out this assessment, we need to work as a team with authorities, teachers and students, analyzing the curriculum to ensure knowledge, learning, skills and excellent graduate profile, with modern processes and compliance with the indicators required for accreditation; the achievement of this accreditation will allow chemical engineers greater potential for integration into the labor market. Employers will also be benefited because the will be able to hire professionals who come from accredited programs with excellent quality.
