Resumen
El objetivo de este estudio fue la determinación del promedio de la dosis efectiva por tomografía computarizada recibida en los pacientes pediátricos de 0 a 9 años del Instituto Oncológico SOLCA durante el periodo Enero 2010 a Diciembre 2013. Este es un estudio retrospectivo de corte transversal que valora los tipos de tomografías realizadas y la dosis efectiva emitida por cada una de ellas en una muestra de 77 pacientes menores de 9 años. Las exploraciones más realizadas fueron de cerebro, abdomen, pelvis y tórax. Las tomografías de abdomen, pelvis y tórax conformaron el 87.47% de la dosis efectiva total. El promedio de dosis efectiva total fue de 53.41 mSv. El promedio de dosis efectiva recibida por los niños es mayor al recomendado por institutos de regulación de radiación internacionales. II.

This is a retrospective cross sectional study that evaluates the type of tomography realized, and the effective dose emitted by each one of them in a sample of 77 patients smaller than 9 years. The most realized explorations were of brain, abdomen, pelvis and chest. The abdomen, pelvis and chest tomographies conformed the 87.47% of the total effective dose. The average of the total effective dose was 53.41 mSv. The effective dose average received by children is greater than the recommended by the international radiation regulation institutes. IV
