This study establishes data on the prevalence of oral pathologies associated with the use of removable prostheses in patients who have them as well as the risk factors that could cause alterations in the mucosa classified by the frequency of gender and age of patients. The methodology used is observational, descriptive and transversal. Currently, there are no records of dental histories in the dentistry faculty of the University of Guayaquil regarding the number of patients with oral pathologies. Data was generated between March of 2017 and March 2018 by the Chair of Removable Prosthesis based on a consensual survey. The survey emphasizes variations such as the time and frequency of the use of prosthesis, the hygiene to which dental prosthesis and oral cavities are subjected to, the age and gender in which pathologies are commonly manifested and type of injury. A sample of 100 patients was analyzed, in which 73 were females and 27 males. Of these, 40 patients presented some type of oral pathology and the frequency of greatest recurrence is in the age range between 41 to 60 years. The most common lesions are sub prosthetic stomatitis in 34 cases, mouth ulcers 3, followed by inflammatory hyperplasia with 3 registered cases. In conclusion, the prevalence of oral pathologies are usually developed due to the lack of knowledge about correct maintenance and hygiene of the prosthesis and the established year in which they have to be used.
