The dental professional may face the problem of separation of an instrument during an endodontic treatment. For this reason, it is of utmost importance to prioritize the extraction of the fragment due to the presence of microorganisms or bacteria that can have repercussions on the tooth or its periapical portion. This work was of descriptive nature, non experimental or analytical. It was performed on a symptomatic female patient who went to the Clínica Integral de la Facultad Piloto de Odontología, on a single-rooted tooth which presented RCT (root canal treatment), and in the radiographic evidence it showed a separated endodontic instrument. The bypass technique was implemented for the removal of the fractured tool, which aided in the complete extraction of the instrument without damaging the dentin. Regardless the technique used, the fundamental key is to avoid any injury to the tooth and the surrounding periodontal tissues at the moment of extracting the fragmented instrument inside the root.
