Resumen
El Chikungunya representa un problema de salud pública de gran magnitud, dado
que afecta a la población virgen epidémicamente teniendo un gran impacto negativo en
la población, y en el servicio de salud sanitaria. El objetivo general es determinar las
manifestaciones clínicas asociadas al desarrollo de la fiebre Chikungunya en pacientes
con síntomas de la enfermedad que acuden al Hospital San Vicente de Paul. La
metodología del estudio fue de tipo casos con base poblacional en 208 pacientes
diagnosticados positivos para Chikungunya, se analizaron documentos estadísticos de
pacientes y del Sistema de Vigilancia epidemiológica del Ecuador predominó el sexo
femenino con tres cuartas partes de infectadas, el grupo etario más afectado
corresponde a segundo y tercer decenio para ambos sexos, el repunte de la enfermedad
fue entre junio, y agosto, las manifestaciones clínicas como la fiebre y artralgias afectó
al 100% de los pacientes, poli artralgia en tres de cada diez pacientes, dolores de
articulaciones específicamente en las falanges de la mano, pies , tronco y eritema,
afectó a más de la mitad de los pacientes. Se propone la sociabilización de los
resultados obtenidos para mediante un taller Informativo con el fin de fomentar el buen
uso de herramientas de notificación de vigilancia epidemiológicas, en este contexto el
personal de salud es clave para la adecuada atención de los pacientes y para la
detección oportuna de casos de Chikungunya.
