Polifenoles totales y actividad antioxidante en extracto acuoso y etanólico del tallo de caña agria Arthrostemma ciliatum Pav. ex D. Don.

Resumen
La Arthrostemma ciliatum Pav. ex D. Don. conocida como Churco o Caña Agria es una planta de la familia Melastomataceae que crece entre maleza o en bosques mixtos, distribuidas en los trópicos y subtrópicos. En Ecuador son utilizadas principalmente para el consumo de sus tallos agrios para el tratamiento de afecciones en la garganta, infecciones urinarias, disentería o para calmar la sed. A pesar de que se transmite de generación en generación la información de las propiedades de la Arthrostemma ciliatum Pav. ex D. Don. no es menos cierto que los estudios se han limitado al área de la actividad antimicrobiana, se torna necesario complementar los mismos con la evaluación de su contenido de polifenoles totales y su actividad antioxidante en los extractos acuosos y etanólico. La especie silvestre fue recolectada durante los meses de marzo a mayo del 2019 en el cantón Ponce Enríquez de la Provincia del Azuay, y de ésta se trabajó con los tallos, los cuales se sometieron a pruebas de Folin-Ciocalteu y se obtuvo como resultado en Polifenoles Totales en extracto etanólico: 0,163% y el extracto acuoso: 0,65%. La Actividad Antioxidante se determinó por DPPH y el resultado en extracto etanólico fue de 1666.80 mg/100g y en extracto acuoso:
1136.50 mg/100g.
The Arthrostemma ciliatum Pav. ex D. Don. known as Churco or Caña Agria is a plant of the family Melastomataceae that grows between weeds or in mixed forests, distributed in the tropics and subtropics. In Ecuador they are used mainly for the consumption of their sour stems for the treatment of affections in the throat, urinary infections, dysentery or to quench thirst. Although the information on the properties of the Arthrostemma ciliatum Pav. ex D. Don is transmitted from generation to generation. ex D. Don. It is also true that studies have been limited to the area of antimicrobial activity, it becomes necessary to complement them with the evaluation of their total polyphenol content and their antioxidant activity in aqueous and ethanolic extracts. The wild species was collected during the months of March to May of 2019 in the canton Ponce Enríquez of the Province of Azuay, and from this one worked with the stems, which were subjected to tests of Folin-Ciocalteu and obtained as a result in Total polyphenols in ethanolic extract: 0.163% and the aqueous extract: 0.65%. The Antioxidant Activity was determined by DPPH and the result in ethanolic extract was 1666.80 mg/100g and in aqueous extract: 1136.50 mg/100g.
