Resumen
El presente trabajo de investigación nace de la necesidad del profesional en el ámbito odontológico de conocer los puntos más relevantes a considerar en el manejo odontológico de las personas con discapacidad auditiva y determinar cómo debe ser la relación con el paciente en la consulta, mediante una investigación exhaustiva de todo lo que abarca a este tipo de discapacidad y los casos registrados. Se puede lograr determinar que es fundamental la comunicación con el paciente, ya sea por lenguaje de señas o vocalización con contacto visual permanente, haciendo sentir al paciente en una zona de confort y permitirle sentirse incluido. La ausencia del sentido del oído puede causar manifestaciones bucales, producto de este mismo padecimiento (representando una ausencia sensorial) que es imprescindible que el odontólogo conozca y sepa tratar. En la consulta odontológica con el paciente con discapacidad auditiva se debe considerar el manejo de sonidos ya que, el uso de audífonos amplificadores de sonido o de implante coclear, constituye un factor importante al momento del uso de la turbina que emite sonidos fuertes y puede ocasionar molestias en el paciente, por lo que se suele recomendar suspender el uso de los mismos durante la fase de tratamiento en la consulta. El manejo en la consulta odontológica va a depender de la edad, tipo de discapacidad auditiva que presenta el paciente, si es que posee otro tipo de discapacidad, si presenta algún tipo de trastorno psicológico o conductual y si el paciente requiere de compañía o no en la consulta.
This study aims to consider the dental management of people with hearing impairment and to determine how the relationship with the patient should be in consultation, through a thorough investigation of everything that covers this type of disability and the cases recorded. It can determine that communication with the patient in fundamental, either through sign language or vocalization with permanent visual contact, making that the patient feel in a comfort zone and allow them to feel included. It is also important to consider that the absence of the sense of hearing can cause oral manifestations that it is essential that the dentist knows how to treat. It is important to consider with the patient with hearing impairment, the handling of sounds since the use of hearing aids amplifiers of sound or hearing aid of cochlear implant is an important factor at the moment of the use of the turbine that emits a strong sound and can cause discomfort in the patient. Therefore, it is usually recommended to suspend the use of hearing aids during the treatment phase in consultation. It should be emphasized that the patient presents another type of disability, or if he or she presents some type of psychological disorder and if the patient requires a company or not during consultation.
