Prevalencia de torus palatino y mandibular en pacientes atendidos en la Facultad Piloto de Odontología

Resumen
El torus palatino y mandibular se define como una anomalía anatómica que se caracteriza por presentarse de manera de un cumulo celular que a su vez forma tejidos, los cuales pueden ser óseos o blandos, son comúnmente encontrados en el paladar o en la mandíbula, aunque también ha variedad de tipo lingual. Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia de torus palatino y mandibulares que se atienden en la Facultad Piloto De Odontología en el periodo de 2018 CII – 2019 CI. Métodos: en el estudio se llevó a cabo en la Universidad de Guayaquil desde julio del 2018 a febrero del 2019. Posteriormente ese estudio informa la prevalencia de torus palatino y mandibular en una muestra poblacional de 7913 pacientes que asisten en la Facultad Piloto De Odontología para la asistencia de salud dental. Resultados: de los 7913 pacientes atendidos, el 17% de ellos presentaban torus palatino o mandibular. En relación al tipo de torus, el torus palatino representó el 65%, mientras que el torus mandibular el 26% un 9% bimaxilar. Con respecto al género, obteniendo el género femenino que fue con el 62% y masculino con 38%. Con respecto a la edad, se encontró más prevalencia entre el rango de 21 a 30 años de edad.
The palatine and mandibular torus is defined as an anatomical abnormality that is characterized by presenting itself in a cellular cumulus that in turn forms tissues, which can be bony or soft, are commonly found on the palate or jaw, but also it has variety of lingual type. Objective: to determine the prevalence of palatine and mandibular torus that are treated in the Pilot School of Dentistry in the period of 2018 IIC - 2019 CI. Methods: the study was carried out at the University of Guayaquil from July 2018 to February 2019. Subsequently, this study reports the prevalence of palatine and mandibular torus in a population sample of 7913 patients attending the Pilot School of Dentistry to Dental health assistance. Results: Of the 7913 patients treated, 17% of them presented palatal or mandibular torus. In relation to the type of torus, the palatine torus represented 65%, while the mandibular torus 26% a 9% bimaxillary. With respect to gender, obtaining the female gender that was with 62% and male with 38%. With respect to age, more prevalence was found between the range of 21 to 30 years of age. Conclusion: the most frequent torus prevalence is the palatine torus that attend the Pilot School of Dentistry, being present in both genders and linking significantly between the second and third decade of life.
