The marine transport has had a great evolution in the last years, and at the present time it is the leader of the traffic of international burden, due to the technological development of the port industry, that which takes to the attainment of new more efficient units with big carrying capacities that optimize its yield but that it also contributes in mitigating the environmental impact and the depreciation of costs. The shipping lines are preponderant actors of the marine activity, because they furrow the seas with their different routes that arrive to the main ports of the world, included the Ecuadorians, getting that the shipowning companies reach extraordinary benefits. With the course of the years the international trade has new demands, and innovators packing forms and transportation. The current tendency of locating in containers the burden is a clear example of it, turning out to be the marine transport the most economic option and the only form of mobilizing vast quantities of load from and toward any point of the world in where it is. The objective of the present investigation is therefore, to carry out an analysis of the volume of Port burden of Manta during the 2010-2014 period, and how this has impacted in the shipping routes of the South American Pacific, until ending up determining the reasons of the lack of competitiveness of a Port that in spite of having the geographical location and the soaked one natural suitable, it has not been developed in the necessary burden traffic for its effectiveness, it doesn't only stop benefit of the province but also the country, and how it is sought to revert that situation until transforming it into an attractive port and obliged itinerary of the big shipping lines.
