The research project on the Etiopathogenesis of Temporomandibular Disorders analyzed the temporomandibular discrepancies of pathologies of multifactorial etiology that cause discomfort in several structures, creating alterations at a general level, both in women and in men. Its general objective was to determine the etiopathogenesis that trigger the temporomandibular dysfunctions, while the specific ones seek to describe the prevalence of gender, its causes, identify which are the most recurrent pathologies, observe what signs are associated before issuing a diagnosis, define the type of most suitable treatment at the time of identifying a disorder in the alterations of TMJ disorders. The research was qualitative, descriptive and non-experimental; His technique was the compilation of bibliographic means of updated texts, the work method was analytical-deductive, because concepts and theoretical foundations of bibliographic sources were analyzed to analyze which gender has the highest prevalence in these disorders. The study instrument consisted of search engines such as: Scielo, Journal, Researchgate, Medline, Elsevier, among others. Applying the discussion and results, it was concluded that the gender that prevailed in TMJ is female in a proportion of 3/1 in relation to men; its causes are multifactorial in origin; his first symptoms are manifested with muscle pain and joint clicking. Furthermore, the procedures of choice for TMJ dysfunctions are simple conservative treatments with progression to complex treatments; considering the diagnosis of other specialists linked to the temporomandibular joint to obtain a better prognosis.
