Bruxismo: factores asociados, consecuencias a largo plazo sobre los músculos masticatorios y la articulación temporomandibular

Resumen
El bruxismo es una patología que afecta a un gran número de personas alrededor de todo el mundo habiendo poblaciones con un alto índice de prevalencia, las investigaciones actuales estudiaron de forma amplia todo lo que se relaciona con esta enfermedad, y esta tesis de pregrado intentó recopilar la mayor cantidad de información reciente acerca de los factores asociados y sus consecuencias teniendo como Objetivo: “determinar los factores asociados del bruxismo, las consecuencias en la ATM y en los músculos que participan en la masticación”, se desarrolló una Metodología: de tipo cualitativa, bibliográfica, documental, no experimental y retrospectiva cuyos Resultados: fueron que los factores asociados eran el estrés, ansiedad, agresividad, nerviosismo, trastornos de conducta nocturnas y diurnas mientras que las consecuencias más importantes eran la hipertrofia, dolor muscular, apertura limitada de la mandíbula, dolor del ATM, actividad muscular masticatoria rítmica patológica, desviación a la apertura, los chasquidos y crepitaciones de la articulación temporomandibular, Se pudieron establecer las Conclusiones: que los factores asociados del bruxismo es un tema en discusión vigente que aún puede ser modificado con nuevos estudio, las consecuencias que tiene la patología son más aceptadas por la comunidad pero todavía hay retractores que no consideran las pruebas mostradas suficientes para correlacionar los resultados mostrados con el bruxismo, sin embargo se toma como verdadero que esta afecta a la ATM, a los músculos masticatorios y a las piezas dentarias en la comunidad odontológica
Bruxism is a pathology that affects a lot of people around the world, even there are some countries where they have a high prevalence rate of this pathology, the current researches have studied all related to this disease, and this undergraduate thesis tried to collect the most information it was possible about the associated facts and the consequences of bruxism, having as Objective: “to determine the associated facts of bruxism, consequences in the TMJ and in the muscles of mastication”, a Methodology was developed: qualitative, bibliographic, documentary, non-experimental and retrospective type, which Results were: that the associated factors were stress, anxiety, aggressiveness, nervousness, daytime and night behavior disorders, also that the most important consequences were muscle hypertrophy and pain, limited opening of the jaw, TMJ pain, pathological rhythmic chewing muscle activity, deviation while opening of the jaw, clicking and crackling of the temporomandibular joint, the conclusions could be established: were that the associated factors of bruxism is a current topic under discussion that can still be modified with new studies, the consequences of the pathology are more accepted by the community but there are still retractors that do not consider the evidence shown sufficient to correlate the results with the bruxism, however its taken as real that this affects the TMJ, the masticatory muscles and the teeth in the dental community
