Análisis del sector acuícola y su aporte al desarrollo local de la provincia del Guayas, período 2015-2020

Resumen
La acuicultura se ha convertido en los últimos años en una de las actividades de producción de alimentos de origen animal con mayor crecimiento a nivel mundial. En Ecuador, el camarón es el producto más representativo del sector acuícola, seguido la exportación de tilapias que también pertenece a este sector, dicho sea de paso, sus niveles de exportaciones han sido menores durante el periodo de estudio. La creciente demanda de camarón en los mercados asiáticos ha permitido que la industria camaronera vuelva a crecer y con ello la demanda de mano de obra favoreciendo directamente a hombres y mujeres de la localidad, mejorando sus ingresos y calidad de vida. En la actualidad, este sector es el segundo producto más representativo después del banano en las exportaciones de productos no petroleros, sin embargo, la apreciación del dólar y el pago de aranceles por importación de bienes de capitales e innovación tecnológica no han afectado la demanda y se ha ajustado al precio de los mercados internacionales. La expansión de estas actividades acuícolas, genera impactos ambientales negativos en la superficie de manglar de la provincia del Guayas. En tal virtud, el presente trabajo de investigación consiste en analizar la actividad acuícola en la provincia del Guayas y su aporte en el desarrollo local en el periodo 2015 al 2020.
Aquaculture has become in recent years one of the fastest growing food production activities of animal origin in the world. In Ecuador, shrimp is the most representative product of the aquaculture sector, followed by the export of tilapia that also belongs to this sector, incidentally, its export levels have been lower during the study period. The growing demand for shrimp in Asian markets has allowed the shrimp industry to grow again and with it the demand for labor, directly favoring local men and women, improving their income and quality of life. At present, this sector is the second most representative product after bananas in the exports of non-oil products, however, the appreciation of the dollar and the payment of import duties for capital goods and technological innovation have not affected demand and it has been adjusted to the price of international markets. The expansion of these aquaculture activities generates negative environmental impacts on the mangrove surface of the Guayas province. As such, this research work consists of analyzing the aquaculture activity in the Guayas province and its contribution to local development in the period 2015 to 2020.
