Succión digital como indicador para la maloclusión en pacientes pediátricos

Resumen
Los hábitos son costumbres que se obtienen por la acción repetitiva de algún ejercicio, al inicio suelen ser de manera voluntaria, pero con el pasar del tiempo se vuelve una práctica involuntaria. La succión digital está caracterizada por la introducción de uno o más dedos de una de las manos del niño dentro de la boca, y es realizada generalmente con la yema o pulpejo del pulgar apoyado sobre la bóveda palatina, esta acción al ser realizada después de los 4 años puede desencadenar maloclusiones. Objetivo: Establecer la relación de la succión digital y la maloclusión en pacientes pediátricos. Metodología: Se realizó una investigación de tipo bibliográfica recolectando información documentada de libros, revistas y artículos científicos de Scielo, Medline, Repositorios de la Universidad de Guayaquil, LILACS (Biblioteca Virtual en Salud), pubmed, Semantic Scholar, SpringerLink, entre otros, para recopilar información de estudios observacionales, transversales y descriptivos que estén relacionados con la succión digital y la maloclusión en pacientes pediátricos. Conclusiones: Se concluye que los hábitos orales como la succión digital no deben de pasar desapercibidos ya que no solo provocan alteraciones en la cavidad bucal sino efectos colaterales como son deformación del pulgar, infección por hongos o eccema, hábitos paralelos, prognatismo mandibular.
The habits are customs that are obtained by the repetitive action of some exercise, at the beginning they are usually voluntary, but with the passing of time it becomes an involuntary practice. Digital suction is characterized by the introduction of one or more fingers of one of the child's hands into the mouth, and is usually performed with the thumb bud or pulpew resting on the palate, this action after 4 years of age can trigger malocclusions. Objective: To establish the relationship between digital suction and malocclusion in pediatric patients. Methodology: A bibliographical research was carried out, collecting documented information from books, magazines and scientific articles from Scielo, Medline, Repositories of the University of Guayaquil, LILACS (Virtual Health Library), pubmed, Semantic Scholar, SpringerLink, among others, to collect information from observational, cross-sectional and descriptive studies that are related to digital suction and malocclusion in pediatric patients. Conclusions: It is concluded that oral habits such as digital suction should not go unnoticed since they not only cause alterations in the oral cavity but also collateral effects such as thumb deformation, fungal infection or eczema, parallel habits, mandibular prognathism
