Resumen
En la presente investigación, se realizó un estudio que contó con la participación de 21 ortodoncistas de diferentes clínicas dentales de la ciudad de Loja y Cuenca con el fin de recopilar información relevante respecto a las ventajas y desventajas de las mecánicas con fricción y sin fricción en ortodoncia en el tratamiento de cierre de espacios principalmente por extracciones; en el mismo se pretendió indagar entre otras cosas en los distintos aditamentos que se utilizan, en el tiempo empleado en el tratamiento y consideraciones importantes sobre los beneficios e inconvenientes al emplear los dos diferentes tipos de técnicas; en cuanto a los aditamentos más utilizados se obtuvo como resultado que los hooks crimpables son los de mayor uso por parte de los especialistas consultados, en relación al tiempo de tratamiento no se presentaron diferencias considerables entre una y otra técnica; sin embargo, en lo concerniente a las ventajas y desventajas, es la técnica que utiliza mecánicas con fricción la que presenta mayores ventajas, que se reflejan con mayor habilidad para el operador y mayor confort en el paciente, en tanto que la técnica que emplea mecánicas sin fricción requiere de una mayor habilidad por parte del operador; sin embargo la ventaja que tiene esta sobre la primera es un menor costo en cuanto a los diferentes aditamentos; el conocimiento de estas consideraciones permite a los especialistas tomar decisiones adecuadas al momento de realizar un determinado tratamiento en los pacientes en los que se pretenda cerrar espacios interdentarios.
The present research is a study about orthodontic treatments which included the participation of 21 specialists of different dental clinics that belong to Loja and Cuenca city, whose purpose was collect important information about advantages and disadvantages of friction mechanics and no friction mechanics in the orthodontic treatment that want close spaces because of extractions; this study wants inquire about the different adjuncts that are used, in the time that requires the treatment and important considerations about benefits and drawbacks when we applied both types of techniques; in relation to the most used adjuncts it was obtained that the crimpable hooks were the most used ones; about the time of treatment it wasn’t considerable differences in different types of treatments; however about advantages and disadvantages, the friction mechanic technique is better than the other technique, because it have higher skills in the operator and less discomfort for the patient, but the advantage that have the no friction mechanic in comparation with the other technique was less costs in different adjuncts; the knowledge about this considerations is important because it allows to the specialists take good decisions at the time of make a certain treatment for the patients in who pretend close interdental spaces.
