Resumen
El implante dentario es un instrumento, actualmente casi
todos de titanio, que se introduce dentro de los huesos
maxilares, con el objetivo de servir de soporte a una
prótesis dental. Este tipo de prótesis sobre implantes, la
dejamos separada de la encía con el objetivo que el
paciente pueda mantener una buena higiene, ya que ésta
es fundamental para conseguir duración de los implantes.
Hay que seleccionar al paciente que le vamos a colocar
implantes, no todas personas están en condiciones de
recibir este tipo de tratamiento. Es importante realizar
una buena historia clínica para ver las posibles
contraindicaciones médicas que puedan existir con
respecto a la oclusión es un aspecto fundamental en una
prótesis sobre implantes. Pero, cuál es el esquema oclusal
ideal para cada caso, la adecuada relación entre la
distribución y número de implantes, la estructura
metálica y el montaje de dientes –oclusión- es la clave del
éxito de las prótesis sobre implantes.
