Resumen
La presente investigación hace referencia a los
principios biológicos y estéticos en preparaciones
dentales fija en el sector anterior, principio que todo
odontólogo restaurador debe considerar previo al
tratamiento restaurador. Vale resaltar que el Ancho
Biológico es definido por Gargiulo y col como la
dimensión del espacio que los tejidos ocupan sobre el
hueso alveolar, señalan que el promedio de inserción
de tejido conjuntivo ocupa 1.07mm de espacio sobre el
hueso alveolar y que el epitelio de unión, por debajo de
la base del surco gingival ocupa 0.97mm del espacio
sobre la inserción de tejido conjuntivo. Estas 2 medidas
constituyen el ancho biológico. Las medidas del ancho
biológico pueden variar entre cada paciente,
encontrándose variaciones que van desde 0.75 mm a
4.3mm, por tal motivo debe determinarse en cada
paciente las mediciones respectivas para establecer así
la ubicación de los márgenes de las restauraciones, en
este sentido las investigaciones de Oakley y col en 1999
demuestran que el ancho biológico se restituye luego de
procedimientos de cirugía periodontal para
alargamiento de corona clínica, en donde ocurre
generalmente una migración apical del epitelio de
unión y se crea un nuevo espacio para el grupo de
fibras de tejido conjuntivo por resorción de la cresta
ósea alveolar.
