Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación., 2017) Cuenca Icaza, Ada de los Angeles; Chávez Cáceres, Ingrid Alexandra; Campuzano Díaz, JoséThe Investigation in the following document aims to determine the influence of short stories learning in English reading skills so that a short stories booklet with values to strengthen the reading skill in the Eighth-Grade students at “Dr. Carlos Julio Pérez Perasso” high school, Zone 8, district 09D24, in Durán - Guayas province, could be elaborated. It will reveal the importance of the short stories for developing a good reading, since the ability to read is indispensable to learn concepts and notions related to the different school subjects such as: sciences, social studies, history, among others. The investigation was conducted among students who had difficulty reading according to the results of the diagnosis assessment. English as a Foreign Language is one of the cornerstones in the development of a society because this is influenced by scientific and technical advances, linked directly to the use of English. It is the universal language because is the most spoken worldwide owing to the incursion of USA as the first world power in the business, technology and education. The purpose of this project is that students acquire strategies to develop their reading skill, analyze a text, understand it; so that they can enrich their vocabulary and make easier the study of English in the next years. The main goal of this project is to help students to be able to produce their own stories through the creation of different sentences in English.
