Retrospectivo. Longitudinal. Analítico. Nivel de investigación: exploratorio, descriptivo, relacional y explicativo. Diseño: cualitativo, no experimental.
Objective: to evaluate the efficacy of treatment in canine distalization using the Ricketts Retractor made of steel wire 0.016x0.016 and TMA 0.016x0.016 in patients treated at the postgraduate clinic of the University of Guayaquil during the period 2012-2015. Methodology: Observational. Retrospective. Longitudinal. Analytical. Level of research: exploratory, descriptive, relational and explanatory. Design: qualitative, non-experimental. Results: clinical cases show the initial and final stages of before and after applying the retractors constructed of both Steel and TMA after this will be given the respective conclusions. Conclusions: It is observed that the Ricketts Distorter built in Steel has an average tensile time of 6 months. It is also observed that the Ricketts Distorter built in TMA has an average tensile time of 4.8 months. In addition, the distal path has an average of 5.4mm with the Ricketts Retractor built in Steel in a time of 6 months. The distanced distance on average is 5.4mm with the Ricketts Retractor built with Steel in a time of 6 months. It is observed that the distal distance on average is 5.4mm with the Ricketts Retractor built with Steel in a time of 6 months. The Cost of TMA with respect to Steel is 674.42% higher. The effectiveness of the TMA with respect to the Steel in a relation time and distalized space is superior with 0.1 points satisfying aesthetic needs
