Due to the high incidence of preeclamptic patients on Ecuador, this is a disorder of pregnancy that is shown as complication of approximately 7% of all pregnancies around the world. Despite of several trials and many other ways, this pathologic status keeps being an important cause of morbidity/mortality of mother/fetus in developed countries as well as those in ways of development. It is well-established that alterations in the circulation of the placenta lead to fetal insufficient nutrition and concomitant alterations in fetal development in women complicated with preeclampsia. I have done this trial which objective is to determine nitrous oxide levels and other similar substances in fetuses’ umbilical cord vessels in pregnancies that are complicated with preeclampsia. This is a case-control trial that will take place in Hospital Gineco-Obstétrico Enrique C. Sotomayor together with the support of the Institute of Biomedicine of the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil and the Molecular Cellular Laboratory of Gynecologic Endocrinology of the University of Pisa, Italy. The universe of the trial will be constituted by all pregnant women admitted in the High Risk Pregnancy Area of the mentioned hospital, being 30 of these that meet certain criteria. With the obtained result, it will be possible to determine if the nitrous oxide levels and similar substances are correlated with the severity of the disease and the neonatal resultant.
