Resumen
El reciente contexto internacional muestra que América Latina aún es muy vulnerable a factores externos. Los precios internacionales de las alimentos se han visto afectados por el aumento de su demanda, por parte de las economías emergentes en especial de China e India, por el desarrollo de la producción de biocombustibles y por el encarecimiento de las fuentes de energía principalmente del petróleo; por el contrario la oferta de alimentos se ha visto limitada por los cambios climáticos que no han permitido obtener buenas cosechas y a que cada vez existe menos cantidades de tierra disponibles para la producción. En los niveles de inflación de América Latina ha incidido principalmente el incremento de los precios internacionales de los productos básicos principalmente en el año 2008, ya que para el 2009 la crisis internacional provocó que los precios cayeran, al igual que el precio de los combustibles. En Ecuador la dolarización ha dado un nuevo escenario a la economía manteniendo una relativa estabilidad de precios, los niveles de precios alcanzados en los últimos años se ha debido principalmente a factores externos ya mencionados; a la especulación de los alimentos por la escasez, fruto del mal clima (sequias, inundaciones, etc.) que
