Resumen
La primera infancia constituye un momento mágico en la vida de un niño: los descubrimientos del mundo en sus diversos colores y olores, la forma y la convivencia con las personas que lo rodean, hacen que afloren sentimientos y sensaciones que estarán interiormente ligados a la formación de su personalidad
Es también en esta fase que comienzan a ser establecidas algunas prioridades y actitudes que pueden perdurar por toda la vida del individuo. Asi la adquisición de hábitos adecuados de higiene en la infancia es uno de los requisitos básicos para el desarrollo de adultos saludables.
En esta perspectiva, el odontopediatra tiene un papel fundamental como promotor e impulsor de la toma de decisiones, por parte del niño y su núcleo familiar , que den prioridad a la salud
El presente capitulo tiene como objetivo aclarar la importancia de la limpieza bucal en bebes y las alternativas para su realización, además de eso serán discutidas las principales estrategias para el control mecánico y químico de la biopelicula dental, teniendo como “telón de fondo” su relación con la elección de actitudes más saludables.

In this perspective, the dentist has a fundamental role in promoting and driving the decision making by the child and his family , to give priority to health This chapter aims to clarify the importance of mouth care in infants and alternatives for implementation , besides that the main strategies will be discussed for the mechanical and chemical control of dental biofilm , with the " backdrop " their relationship with choosing healthier attitudes.
