pudo observar diferencias estadísticamente significativas (20,8% vs 24%; p

Background: Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure frequently performed to correct the changes that the aging process produces in the periorbital region and that frequently cause concern and discomfort in people. Objectives: To determine if the transconjunctival technique offers better results than the transcutaneous subciliary technique for inferior blepharoplasty. Methodology: A cross-sectional observational study was performed at the Aesthetic Bitar Center, which included 24 patients with transcojunctive blepharoplasty and 25 patients in which the subcutaneous transcutaneous tissue was used between 2014 and 2016. For the comparison of the categorical variables, the chi-square Homogeneity test was used for independent samples at a tail, with values of P <0.05 being considered significant. Results: Complications were low in both groups and no statistically significant differences were observed (20.8% vs 24%, p 0.531). The good result was slightly greater between the transconjunctival blepharoplasty than among those using a subcutaneous transcutaneous technique (100% vs 88%; p 0.125). Conclusions: The results of the two surgical techniques are in most cases similar, with good results and a low rate of major complications. Its use is recommended in relation to the anatomopathological characteristics of the patients.
