Resumen
La menopausia constituye una etapa de adaptación y transición a una nueva situación
biológica que conlleva a la pérdida de la capacidad reproductiva; la instauración de la
menopausia tiene carácter progresivo, afecta a todas las mujeres sanas, no
asociándose con la génesis directa de ninguna patología. El presente estudio valoró los
síntomas climatéricos en mujeres de mediana edad con la Escala MRS MRS
(Menopause Rating Scale) instrumento de medición de calidad de vida
específicamente desarrollada para ser aplicada en el climaterio, está compuesta de 11
ítems que evalúan síntomas de la menopausia involucrando aspectos: somáticos,
psicológicos y urogenital. Mediante un estudio tipo descriptivo de diseño transversal,
se analizó una muestra de 480 mujeres en el lapso de un año, las mismas que asistían
en calidad de acompañantes de la mujeres obstétricas ingresadas en la Maternidad
Babahoyo, cuya edad media fue de 47 años. Los síntomas 5 más frecuentes fueron los
problemas articulares y musculares(75.8%), sofocos(70.4%), estado depresivo(69.8%),
agotamiento(66.7%) y la irritabilidad (65.7%). El 60% presentaron puntajes MRS totales
considerados de leve intensidad, 33.3% de moderada y el 6.75 de severos a muy
severos. Con estos resultados se identificó el impacto de los síntomas en la calidad de
vida relacionada con la salud de las mujeres climatéricas y el impacto de los síntomas
en la calidad de vida con percepción de sus parejas, que promueve a crear o reforzar
programas orientados a mejorar la calidad de vida de las mujeres en esta etapa de la
vida.
Menopause is a stage adaptation and transition to a new biological situation leading to the loss of reproductive capacity, the onset of menopause has progressive, affects all healthy women is not associated with any pathology direct genesis. This study evaluated climacteric symptoms in middle-aged women with MRS MRS Scale (Menopause Rating Scale) instrument for measuring quality of life specifically developed to be applied in the climacteric, is composed of 11 items assessing menopausal symptoms involving aspects: somatic, psychological and urogenital. Through a survey descriptive cross-sectional design, we examined a sample of 480 women in the span of a year, the same as attending the women companions admitted to the maternity obstetric Babahoyo, whose average age was 47 years. The five most frequent symptoms were muscle and joint problems (75.8%), hot flushes (70.4%), depressed mood (69.8%), fatigue (66.7%) and irritability (65.7%). 60% had total MRS scores considered mild, 33.3% moderate and 6.75 for severe to very severe. These results identified the impact of symptoms on quality of life related to health of perimenopausal women and the impact of symptoms on quality of life perception of their partners, which promotes the creation or strengthening programs to improve the quality of life of women in this stage of life.
