Bruxism has been conceptualized as a para-functional pathology manifested by centric tightening or bruxism, or by eccentric grinding or bruxism, leading to disharmony in the dental position. Within the dental clinic once identifying the precise diagnosis, the type of expression and the restoration of the damage the professional or student can better offset the origins if he performs interdisciplinary management and institutes relaxing and reprogramming procedures muscular, by means of appliances, medications and physiotherapy, applying the most convenient for the patient. Objective: To establish the frequency of bruxism in adult patients. Methods: data that were collected through a clinical observation form and verbal data of the patients within the Integral Clinic of the Pilot School of Dentistry of the University of Guayaquil, to achieve an adequate and successful investigation in this case, a Research methodology - action. Results: the data obtained from the patients could be observed that of 160 patients presented bruxism 146 and with a greater incidence in the female sex since the most frequent cause is malocclusion and the symptom that manifested most is the pain of the temporomandibular joint Because this pathology is multifactorial among its causes we have dental sensitivity, fractures of teeth, headaches, which the main consequence of this pathology is mandibular subluxation. Conclusion, bruxism is considered to be a multifactorial entity both: in its causes, pregnancy, diagnosis and management, and this has a high prevalence within the population and affects men and women equally. Therefore, dental wear alone does not imply the presence of bruxism, as well as headache, muscle pain or joint noise. Within the treatment of bruxism, it varies mainly due to the etiology and secondly to age.
