Sistemas Rotatorios Protaper Next y Universal.
The objective of this research is to verify the effectiveness of the Protaper Next and Universal Rotatory systems. A bibliographic review of the last 5 years was made on rotary instrumentation, looking for advantages and disadvantages, especially a comparison the aforementioned systems about the amplitude increase. The in vitro study was made in 30 natural premolars with specific features, curvature less than 5 °, without internal and external resorption, calcified root canals, two roots and two root canals. Teeth were decontaminated with thymol solution. After that, cuts were made with a diamond disk, excluding the crown and dividing the roots, they were placed individually in an acrylic block and then two-way vestibule-palatine and mesio-distal preoperative radiographs were taken. 15 teeth were instrumented according to the protocol corresponding to the Protaper Next files and the remaining 15 samples were instrumented by following the protocol of the Protaper Universal files. Post-operative radiographs were taken in the methods explained before. Adobe Illustrator was used to do the respective measurements by thirds of the pre-instrumented and post instrumented ducts. Results revealed that Protaper Universal files achieved enlargement increments in all thirds of the root canal than the Protaper Next files, which in most of the samples and other researches the variation in amplitude of increase between them were significantly high.
