Since endodontic cement is an essential component in root filling, it must be carefully selected. Thus, there are various sealants, those based on resin in common and widespread use; therefore, it is necessary to know its benefits and harms. The objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of apical sealing with resinous cements in the filling of the root canal system. The descriptive and bibliographic methodology was used since different authors and sources with greater relevance from the year 2016 to 2020 were taken as a reference. It can be concluded that the resin-based endodontic cements demonstrated good adherence to the root dentin, although one of their major problems is the toxicity that it produces in the periradicular tissues, which can occur due to an over-filling, in addition, they have an excessive fluidity by which this passage of cement to the periradicular tissues can occur.
