fue necesario emplear una metodología de modalidad cuali-cuantitativa o mixta;
Chess has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability and a very strong convening power in times of pandemic. The problem of the study was the deficit of curricular and extracurricular activities in children from 6 to 12 years old in times of pandemic, which affected their normal psychosocial development, among the causes are the lack of recreational activities, lack of socialization. That is why the objective of this research is to determine the benefits of chess as an educational tool in times of pandemic. To achieve this, it was necessary to use a qualitative-quantitative or mixed modality methodology; because it allowed the researchers to address the problem from an objective perspective, which is quantitative through a survey of students, and the subjective, in which the qualitative is developed, with interviews with the coaches. Through the analysis of the techniques, it was possible to demonstrate that chess can be implemented virtually, from an early age, that is, from the age of 6, effectively, without the need for face-to-face classes. Therefore, it is concluded that it is a benefit for the development of extracurricular activities in times of pandemic. This allowed designing the proposal.
