Resumen
El desarrollo del presente trabajo se realizó durante el transcurso de seis meses en
Guayaquil, es una investigación documental con modalidad bibliográfica, cuyo
objetivo principal fue el de investigar los principales motivos por lo que las bases de
datos columnares son poco utilizadas en las empresas en Ecuador, y es que este tipo
de bases de datos fue introducida al mercado a mediados de 1970, están organizadas
columna por columna diseñadas para soportar grandes cantidades de datos. El
instrumento de investigación utilizado fue un cuestionario comprendido por 10
preguntas cerradas, al cual antes de su aplicación se le realizó una validación por
parte de un experto, mientras que la técnica fue la encuesta, los representantes de la
población la conformaron 25 personas que trabajan con bases de datos. Los
cuestionarios fueron procesados y analizados para luego evaluar el resultado
obtenido. Adicional a esto se realizó un prototipo que consistía en comparar una base
de datos relacional y una columnar, se ejecutó un programa de inserción y consulta
masiva en 3 tablas similares, que permite enviar registros que van desde 10 hasta
1,000.000. Partiendo de los resultados en base a las encuestas y a la ejecución del
prototipo, se obtuvo conclusiones como: desconocimiento de las bases de datos
columnares, el motivo principal es que no se dispone de tiempo suficiente para
investigar; Sybase IQ resultó ser más rápida que MySQL con respecto a las pruebas
de carga, mientras que en las consultas ambas bases de datos registraron un tiempo
promedio similar.
The development of this work was done during the course of six months in Guayaquil, is a documentary type research literature, whose main objective was to investigate the main reasons that the columnar databases are rarely used in enterprises in Ecuador and is that such databases was introduced to the market in mid-1970, are organized column by column designed to support large amounts of data. The research instrument was a questionnaire comprised of 10 closed questions, which prior to application validation was performed by an expert, while the technique was the survey, representatives of the population was made up of 25 people who work databases. The questionnaires were processed and analyzed in order to evaluate the results. Additional to this was a prototype that was to compare a relational database and a columnar, ran a program insert and query 3 tables similar mass, which allows sending records ranging from 10 to 1,000,000. Based on the results based on surveys and implementing the prototype, we obtained findings as: lack of columnar databases, the main reason is that not enough time to investigate, Sybase IQ proved to be faster than MySQL with respect to load testing, while the query both databases showed a similar average time.
