Facultad de Filosofía, Letras y Ciencias de la Educación, 2019) Jácome Ortega, María Auxiliadora; Torres Vivar, LarryThis thesis was developed to determine the axes and obtain a reading comprehension in English using pedagogical instruments such as the Reading Skills called "Skimming and Scanning" as Foreign Language "English" for the 8th grade students of Baccalaureate Colegio Aguirre Abad of the city of Guayaquil academic period 2018 - 2019. This thesis promotes the initiative towards reading based on the general fact that every good reader seeks to read what motivates them, it may be that they use an electronic means to read but if they do not understand what they read, it will be a waste of time to read and attention decreases over time making the reader a passive student with low grades and poor school performance. The author of this research project used research techniques to evaluate and survey students and interview teachers from the school campus "Aguirre Abad" At the end of this research project the author applied his proposal based on the purpose of clarifying the use of Skimming and Scanning reading techniques as well as being a source of reading in the good knowledge of education to ensure that students Learn English The research work ended up sitting on its last pages that reading and reading comprehension are both motivated by a student who has the habit of reading and learning. That if he does have the knowledge, he does not understand and therefore he does not learn something new. That reading gives us the imagination to dream and promote our ideals. That reading is based on techniques to understand and it must be motivating if you want to reach the point of reading comprehension
