Resumen
El objetivo del presente trabajo de investigación es presentar el grado de participación del sector turístico en la economía ecuatoriana, en los últimos cuatro años y que tan significativo ha sido su aportación para el crecimiento económico del país. El turismo es considerado a nivel mundial como un sector estratégico y que para muchos países del mundo, representa su principal fuente de ingresos y de aporte al Producto Interno Bruto. La actividad turística tiene una serie de impactos sociales, económicos y ambientales; en el aspecto social, es capaz de generar nuevos empleos que les permite a las familias, mejorar su calidad de vida; en cuanto a lo económico, representa una proporción de los ingresos totales para un país; y finalmente tiene aspectos ambientales que gracias a la intervención oportuna de las autoridades competentes han sido positivos, en pro del cuidado del medio ambiente, respetando los criterios de sostenibilidad.
The objective of this research work is to present the degree of participation of the tourism sector in the Ecuadorian economy, in the last four years and how significant its contribution has been to the economic growth of the country. The tourism is considered globally as a strategic sector and that for many countries of the world, represents its main source of income and contribution to Gross Domestic Product. The tourist activity has a series of social, economic and environmental impacts; In the social aspect, it is capable of generating new jobs that allow families to improve their quality of life; as for the economic, it represents a proportion of the total income for a country; and finally it has environmental aspects that thanks to the timely intervention of the competent authorities have been positive, in favor of the environmental care, respecting the criteria of sustainability
