Prevalencia de hipertensión arterial en felis silvestris catus geriátricos en una veterinaria de la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Resumen
El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar la prevalencia de hipertensión en los Felis
silvestris catus geriátricos en una veterinaria en la ciudad de Guayaquil, Ecuador, la muestra
fue de 30 gatos de edad geriátrica, aparentemente sanos para poder realizar el análisis si es
que ellos padecían de esta patología, esta toma de muestras se realizó mediante un
tensiómetro electrónico, los datos fueron evaluados mediante el software SPPS versión 26 y se
utilizó la Prueba No Paramétrica de Chi Cuadrado de Pearson, de los cuales se obtuvieron los
siguientes resultados: la prevalencia hallada fue del 63,33%, en la correlación entre los tipos de
diagnósticos de hipertensión arterial, de acuerdo con las variables independientes; en la edad,
el sexo, el peso y si tuvo tratamiento con fármacos: glucocorticoides si se hallaron diferencias
estadísticas, en cambio en la raza, tipo de alimentación, actividad física, condición corporal,
enzima ALT, enzima AST, alteración de triglicéridos y dificultad para respirar no hubo diferencia
estadística, por lo que se concluyó que estos no son factores predisponentes para que los gatos
geriátricos presenten hipertensión. Además, para un mejor diagnóstico se recomienda realizar
una investigación utilizando el método Doppler.
The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of hypertension in geriatric Felis silvestris catus in a veterinary in the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, the sample was 30 cats of geriatric age, apparently healthy to be able to carry out the analysis if they suffered of this pathology, this sampling was carried out using an electronic tensiometer, the data were evaluated using the SPPS version 26 software and the Pearson Chi Square Non-Parametric Test was used, from which the following results were obtained: the prevalence found it was 63.33%, in the correlation between the types of diagnoses of arterial hypertension, according to the independent variables; in age, sex, weight and if he had treatment with drugs: glucocorticoids: statistical differences were found, instead in race, type of diet, physical activity, body condition, ALT enzyme, AST enzyme, triglyceride alteration and difficulty to breathe there was no statistical difference, so it was concluded that these are not predisposing factors for geriatric cats to present hypertension. In addition, for a better diagnosis it is recommended to conduct an investigation using the Doppler method.
