Postural aberrant behavior of the orofacial musculature plays a major role in the development of skeletal deformities, the presence of language as etiopathogenic factor Class III malocclusion. Objective: To determine the effects of lingual habit malocclusion of patients seen in clinical orthodontic Posgrado'' School Dr. Jose Pineda Apolo during 2013-2015. Methods: A descriptive and observational study was conducted. The universe consisted of 60 patients who attended the clinic Orthodontics, among which 8 patients had atypical swallowing or tongue thrusting. Results: Among the most frequent bad occlusions that were observed are open bite malocclusion Class III and protrusion of the upper incisors. To correct this habit are placed a lingual reeducation that they can be put together with a pearl or acrylic, producing decreased habit. Conclusions: The findings of our study were: a) the prevalence of different habits found was 53%; these habits appear equally regardless of sex, and alterations of anterior open bite, maxillary compression and increased overjet are related to the presence of oral habits, although not statistically significant.
