| dc.description.abstract | La Odontología fue en un principio una rama de la Medicina, pero por la complejidad de los fenómenos biológicos y los procedimientos técnicos para la restauración de las lesiones que se presentan en la cavidad bucal, está pequeña rama se convirtió rápidamente en una profesión independiente La Operatoria Dental como una especialidad de la Odontología es una ciencia y un arte, pues no solo se debe devolver a las piezas dentarias afectadas su función, sino también la forma, constituyendo entonces la estética, el arte, una parte fundamental de la Odontología. Siempre que se opera sobre un diente se realiza Operatoria Dental, por lo tanto esta asignatura representa para la Odontología y sobre todo para el odontólogo de práctica general la mayor parte de su actividad profesional. El avance de la Odontología a partir de mediados del siglo XX ha sido grandioso, pues ha pasado del empirismo, de los espectáculos casi circences que ofrecían los barberos y charlatanes en sus carretas, a una era de investigación seria y científica, con descubrimientos y logros que hacen que la Odontología y especialmente la Operatoria Dental no sea solamente restauradora sino que con un enfoque futurista está dirigida sobre todo a la prevención de las enfermedades dentarias. La Operatoria Dental como ciencia médica está íntimamente relacionada con otras ciencias, lo que hace que el Odontólogo tenga una formación, académica y científica con amplios conocimientos en las diferentes ramas del saber. | es_ES |
