| dc.description.abstract | Este estudio analiza el nivel de conocimiento de salud bucal de las madres y la importancia en la enseñanza y cuidado oral del infante, principalmente en aquellos temas relacionados con la caries dental, la misma que es transmisible y se asocia a diferentes patologías que perjudican la salud del niño, afectando a la dentición temporal. El Objetivo fue determinar el nivel de conocimiento de salud bucal en madres de niños de 3 a 5 años de edad de la Escuela de Educación Básica “Isabel La Católica” de la ciudad de Machala, periodo 2018-2019 previo al consentimiento informado y la validación de las mismas por expertos. De acuerdo al problema y objetivos planteados, la investigación es de tipo cualitativo, descriptivo, transversal y correlacional. La muestra estuvo comprendida por 67 madres de familia a las cuales se les aplicó un cuestionario estructurado por 10 preguntas cerradas con 3 y 4 opciones: comidas o bebidas azucaradas, higiene oral del niño, técnica de cepillado, visitas al odontólogo, aplicación de flúor, cuidado de los dientes de leche o temporarios, última visita odontológica. Los resultados mostraron que la mayoría de las madres presentó mayor conocimiento acerca del hábito de higiene oral y sobre las ventajas de prevención oral un conocimiento regular; sin embargo respecto a medidas preventivas y terapéuticas no tienen una buena aceptación. En conclusión las madres de familia tienen medianamente conocimiento lo que significa asistir a charlas educativas de higiene oral ya que son responsables y están comprometidas con la salud de sus hijos. | es_ES |
| dc.description.abstract | This study analyzes the level of knowledge that mothers possess regarding oral health and its importance in the teaching and oral care of the infant; mainly in topics related to dental cavities, which is transmissible and can be associated with other pathologies that may harm the child’s health, affecting the deciduous teeth. The objective was to determine the level of knowledge of oral health in mothers of children from 3 to 5 years of age at the School of Basic Education "Isabel La Católica" in the Machala city, period 2018-2019 previous to an informed consent and its validation by experts. According to the problem and objectives, the research is being classified as qualitative, descriptive, transversal and correlational. The sample consisted of 67 mothers who filled out a structured questionnaire with 10 closed questions of 3 and 4 options which contain information about sugary meals and beverages, the child’s oral hygiene, brushing technique, dental appointments, fluoride application and temporary oral care of the deciduous teeth. Findings suggested that the majority of the children's mothers presented more knowledge about the habit of oral hygiene as the contrary of the advantages of oral prevention that demonstrated to have regular knowledge; however, regarding preventive measures and therapeutic measures don’t have a good acceptance. In conclusion, mothers possess on average level of knowledge concerning dental care; therefore, it is essential that they attend educational training discussions that deal with oral hygiene since they are the ones responsible for their children’s health. | es_ES |
