Resumen
La construcción de vías óptimas tiene gran importancia en cualquier situación geográfica, porque facilitan el traslado de los habitantes de las poblaciones cercanas y de ser estos agricultores proporcionan el traslado de sus productos a las diversas ciudades; de esta manera se garantiza el
desarrollo socioeconómico del sector, además de ofrecer un mejor acceso a las necesidades básicas.
La vía “Baba-La Estrella” se ha encontrado constantemente afectada por las lluvias que se presentan durante la estación invernal; por el cual se a
deteriorado el camino y en algunos casos daños significativos en la calzada y alcantarillas de la misma, ocasionando la inaccesibilidad hacia el lugar,
perjudicando de igual manera las actividades del desarrollo de la zona afectada.
La plataforma del camino es muy angosta y tiene un ancho promedio de 5 m. Consta de un solo carril para circular; y para cruzar vehículos en
dirección opuesta o rebasar, deben bajar sus velocidades y encontrar el lugar con el ancho adecuado para realizar la maniobra.
Debido al mal estado de la calzada, solo permite circular a velocidades inferiores a los 30Km/h. La vía consta de una capa de rodadura compuesta de material pétreo, sin recubrimiento, constituida por gravas naturales, no trituradas, sin requisitos de granulometrías y plasticidad; su espesor es
variable llegando casi a los 40cm en algunos tramos. No presenta gradiente transversal y el drenaje tanto longitudinal como transversal es deficiente ya que las alcantarillas están deterioradas y, en
algunos casos, su capacidad es insuficiente, ocasionando inundamientos.
Por los motivos anteriormente expuestos se ha propuesto la ampliación de la vía con diseño de pavimento rígido, ya que así se podrá satisfacer las necesidades de los habitantes de esta zona; ayudando a la movilización de sus productos a diferentes puntos del cantón, para su posterior
comercialización; como también para la comunicación interna.
