This thesis presents the analysis of the existent rules for sizing livable spaces and verifies its applicability in a new designed of a social and rest area in a prototype passenger’s ship sailing in the Galapagos Archipelago. The tourism and transportation, joined with the build industry and ship maintenance and repair, some of the priority productive sectors for the certainly significant change in the productive matrix in our Country, this work justifies its relevance and importance. The methodology presents a bibliographic research, a review of studies carried by other authors about the topic, direct (field) and quantitative (survey) observation performed in the Galápagos Island to the owners of the ships, and completed with the opinion of the passengers and crew. The other phase of the work includes an analysis of analogues models, then proceed with the integration of knowledge in the creative phase to satisfy the needs raised in order to obtain an alternative interior design that meets the objectives of this work. The proposal presented combines architectural and artistic techniques looking for a distinctive style that unifies the spaces, in addition, multifunctional furniture are designed to optimize interior space and circulation, such us which can also be useful in social housing. The result is referential guidelines for sizing livable spaces for this kind of ships, as a support tool for the Interior´s Ship Design which is a complex branch of Interior Design.
