Resumen
El uso de combustibles fósiles en cualquiera de sus derivados ha ocasionado daños
ambientales de gran magnitud a nivel mundial y aunque se esté en busca sustitutos, el petróleo
ha sido una de las principales fuentes de energía del mundo.
Las importaciones y la alta dependencia de combustibles en las Islas Galápagos han
generado que los riesgos de contaminación y daños al ecosistema aumenten, mediante esta
investigación queremos incentivar diversas estrategias entre ellas producir biocombustibles a
base de algas marinas, puesto que contamos con todos los recursos para ejecutarlo.
Para validar la hipótesis y alcanzar los objetivos propuestos se ha analizado cuáles son
los efectos que ocasionan los combustibles fósiles además de determinar los beneficios y los
riesgos que se generan al proponer la producción de otros tipos de biocombustibles a los que
actualmente se producen en el país.

El análisis reveló que los combustibles fósiles han repercutido de forma negativa al
medio ambiente y que las estrategias planteadas para preservación del medio ambiente son un
aporte importante para las Islas Galápagos, por cuanto se protege la biodiversidad en la región,
incrementa la producción nacional, y aumentan fuentes de empleo.
The use of fossil fuels in any of its derivatives has caused environmental damages of great magnitude around the world although substitutes are investigated, the oil continues being one of the principal source of energy in the world. The imports and the high dependence of fuels in the Galapagos Islands has generated that the risks of pollution and ecosystem damages increased, through this research we want to propose different strategies such as produce bio combustibles based on marine algae, because we have all the resources to execute it. To validate the hypothesis and to reach the proposed aims there have been analyzed which are the effects that the fossil fuels causes, beside determining the benefits and the risks that are generated with the production proposed of other types of bio combustibles in spite of which one produced nowadays in the country. xv The analysis revealed that the fossil fuels have had negative consequences against the environment, also it has shown that the strategies raised for preservation of the environment have an important contribution for the Galapagos Islands, because the biodiversity is protected in the region, the national output is increased, and the sources of employment improved.
