superiores e inferiores, evalúa posturas, movimientos repetitivos, fuerza
According to the International Labour Organization, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the most important health problems at the workplace, both in industrially developed countries as in of developing countries, which implies high costs and impact on quality of life. Musculoskeletal disorders are manifested by feeling fatigue, pain, numbness, paresthesias, stiffness and muscle contraction. These feelings are distributed in the neck, trunk, hands and upper and lower limbs. The nursing staff, due to the activity they carry on direct patient care and the wrong application of body mechanics, have this type of disorders that can alter their daily work. The aim of this study is to determine the level of ergonomic risk the studied group is exposed to, for which the RULA method based on direct observation of positions taken by neck, trunk and upper and lower member, which evaluates positions, repetitive motion, force applied and static activity the musculoskeletal systemis subject to. Once the method executed, it is concluded that the activity that increases ergonomic risk on the nursing staff is bathing the patient, the anatomical area most affected by executing the different tasks is mainly the wrist, followed by the trunk, neck, arms and Finally the forearm, and the occupational group most exposed to ergonomic hazards are nursing assistants because they are responsible for performing tasks that require more overstrain. Therefore the main efforts should be focused on the implementation of control measures leading to minimize or eliminate risks.
