present work was carried out inside three peri-urban protected forests of the city of Guayaquil: La Prosperina, Bosqueira and Papagayo of Guayaquil (Guayas province). The general objective of the work was to determine the diversity, abundance, distribution and ecological connectivity between protective forests, through the use of bats as bioindicators. For the characterization of the bat ensemble in the three forests, 33 nights of sampling were carried out using 4 mist networks, open from 18:00 to 23:00 approximately. A total of 169 individuals belonging to 10 genera, 3 families and 14 species were captured, tagged and later released. The most abundant species in the whole sample were Glossophaga soricina, Artibeus fraterculus and Carollia brevicauda. In addition, the trophic structure was analyzed, determining a total of three trophic guilds: frugivorous, insectivorous and nectarivore. In order to evaluate the sampling efficiency and to weigh the potential richness of each protective forest, species accumulation curves and relative abundance were used, Shannon equity index, Pielou equitability index and non-parametric statistic CHAO 1 were calculated. The overall diversity obtained was medium (H '= 1.63), but when separated by protective forest, BPLP had the highest diversity of the three areas (H' = 1.81); in BPB diversity was also medium (H '= 1.66); and finally, in the BPPG the total diversity was somewhat low (H '= 1.44). Two internal recaptures are conducted in the Forest Protector Bosqueira (Artibeus fraterculus and Carollia brevicauda) and one between forests Bosqueira and Papagayo of Guayaquil (Artibeus fraterculus). As for the use of shelters, a natural refuge, a ceibo occupied by G. soricina, was found; and an artificial refuge was found, an abandoned brick building, where they inhabited the species Carollia sp. and G. soricina. This study was able to raise the chiropter fauna baseline present in the three sampling zones, and it was verified that using bats as indicators of ecological connectivity between forests is viable.
