INFLUENCIA DEL PROCESO DE ENVEJECIMIENTO EN LA AUTOESTIMA DE LAS ADULTAS MAYORES

Resumen
El presente Análisis de Casos constituye un acercamiento a un tema tan sensible, como es el proceso de envejecimiento y la llegada a la adultez mayor; tuvo como objetivo determinar la influencia del proceso de envejecimiento en la autoestima de las adultas mayores, atendidas en consulta en el Centro de Docencia, Investigación y Desarrollo Humano para el Buen Vivir (CDID) y en el Centro de Atención de Enfermería (CAE) de la Escuela de Enfermería de la Universidad de Guayaquil durante Agosto de dos mil diez y siete. El estudio se sustentó en la Teoría de Autoestima de Coopersmith (1976), Rosemberg (1992) entre otros. La metodología utilizada fue cualitativa con alcance descriptivo y diseño transversal, se seleccionó una muestra de seis usuarias. Las técnicas empleadas fueron la observación, entrevista semiestructurada, el inventario de autoestima de Coopersmith Forma “C” para Adultos y la escala de autoestima de Rosemberg. Los resultados arrojaron que las seis adultas mayores presentaron Autoestima Media y Baja, siendo la Percepción de Sí Mismo el área más afectada, también reflejaron un tipo de envejecimiento secundario, el cual tuvo una influencia en la autoestima de las adultas mas no fue determinante.
This Case Study constitutes an approach to a sensitive subject such as the process of coming of age of elderly. The objective of this study was to determine the influence of the aging process on the self-esteem of older adults, who were seen at the Centro de Docencia, Investigación y Desarrollo Humano para el Buen Vivir (CDID) and the Centro de Atención de Enfermería (CAE) of the School of Nursing of the University of Guayaquil during august of 2017. The study was based on Coopersmith's Theory of Self-Esteem (1976), Rosemberg (1992), among others. The methodology used was qualitative with descriptive scope and transversal design, a sample of six users was selected. The techniques used were observation, semi-structured interview, Coopersmith's "C" Adult Self-esteem inventory and Rosemberg's self-esteem scale. The results showed that the six older adults present Medium and Low Self-esteem, being the Self-Perception the most affected area, also reflect a type of secondary aging, which had an influence on the self-esteem of adults but not determinant
