Resumen
Las extracciones quirúrgicas de los terceros molares es el procedimiento que más
comúnmente se realiza en cirugía oral, siendo a la vez la radiografía panorámica el
estudio radiográfico más frecuente usado por odontólogos y cirujanos orales para
realizar el diagnostico y planificación previa a la decisión de extraerlos
quirúrgicamente; el uso del estudio radiográfico sea modificado en nuestro medio en
virtud de accesibilidad, costo y el sin número de oportunidades de identificar
estructuras , detalles morfológicos, patológicos asociados y posiciones de los
órganos dentales que brinda.
A pesar de ser la extracción quirúrgica de terceros un procedimiento tan común, no
existe consenso entre los profesionales de cuanto realizar la odontectomia.
La toma de esta decisión se facilita para aquellos órganos dentales retenidos
sintomáticos, que tengan patología infecciosas, quísticas o tumorales asociadas o
en casos de que hay de esos órganos dentales no erupcionados en posiciones
ectópicas; pero hay de esos órganos dentales no erupcionados, que no presentan
signo-sintomatología alguna por su imposibilidad para erupcionar por factores que
condicionan su retención deberán ser extraídos, antes de estas cause
complicaciones que generen dolor, infecciones o posibles lesiones quísticas y
tumorales.
El estudio fue el de determinar cuáles son los factores que más frecuentemente
generan retención de los terceros molares mandibulares, con el fin de sugerir la
extracción quirúrgica de aquellos órganos dentales retenidos asintomáticos que en
virtud de estos factores más comúnmente generan la retención son el tamaño del
tercer molar retenido, el cual es mayor que el espacio del cualpara presentar en su
gran mayoría mesio angulaciones impiden que pueda existir una completa erupción
de este y la falta de desarrollo mandibular lo que genera mandíbulas con arcadas
pequeñas y espacios insuficientes que impiden la erupción de terceros molares,
para poder determinar la influencia de estos factores en el proceso de retención
tendríamos en cuanto la radiografía panorámicas.
Las razones que me motivaron a realizar esta cirugía son porque en el momento de
realizarlo se trabaja con mucha responsabilidad, sabiduría y tener en cuenta la
integridad del paciente ya psicológica y física, ya que la experiencia que se adquiere
no es la misma en cada paciente, la cual es pilar para mi información como
profesional de la salud oral.
El propósito del presente trabajo investigativo es describir los cuidados, la revisión
de exámenes complementarios técnicos y procedimientos que nos conlleva a
mejorar la salud oral del paciente y por ende devolverle la función y estética, tan
apreciados en el ser humano.
