nuestras conclusiones y recomendaciones
The following investigation is about a "Comparative study of one hundred patients over forty years of age with non-carious lesions and alternative treatment that enter the diagnostic unit of the pilot Dental School’s Faculty." at Universidad de Guayaquil. It was carried out with the collection of clinical records and also data from different sources such as books, articles, among others. It has been possible to define the concept of each non-carious lesion that can occur in the individual and its possible risk factors. Through the collection of clinical records from the diagnostic department, percentages tables were established for each non-carious lesion, such as abrasion, erosion, abfrasion and attrition. Each lesion has its respective statistical graphic percentage, which reach the faculty to receive treatment. Treatment has been advised to patients in order to improve functionality and aesthetics. These restorations are made with new generation materials such as composite resins or modified glass ionomer, as it is made from materials that are very resistant and economical. The restorations can give back the long lost self-esteem to patients affected by these injuries. The purpose of this study was to determine the non-carious lesions that predominate in our environment in people over forty years of age and to be able to give an adequate aesthetic and functional restorative treatment, thus, providing patients with an integral treatment in our faculty. Statistical results and conceptual definitions of bibliographic sources of the lesions were achieved by means of qualitative and quantitative methods.
