Resumen
La presente tesis está estructurada por tres capítulos, finaliza con las conclusiones.
En el primer capítulo me centro en explicar qué es la economía y la agricultura, cómo se clasifican, la manera en la que se relacionan éstas entre

sí y cuál es la importancia de cada una. Este capítulo también aborda el tema de la agricultura en el Ecuador, estableciendo cuáles son las características y su estructura. Indico también cuáles fueron los procesos más relevantes por los que la agricultura ecuatoriana atravesó.
Así mismo, forman parte de este primer capítulo los antecedentes y registros que se tiene de la Carludovica Palmata o paja toquilla a nivel mundial, nacional y local. Por último, menciono cuáles son las características más importantes de la agricultura manabita. También la importancia de la paja toquilla en ella. Finalmente, estudio y señalo cuáles son los sectores en la provincia de Manabí que se dedican al cultivo de paja toquilla.
El segundo capítulo está focalizado en la socioeconomía del cantón Jipijapa. Cantón escogido como centro y eje para la investigación, por ser éste, el cantón en el cual se dio inicio a la producción de paja toquilla y a la elaboración del sombrero de paja toquilla.
Este capítulo registra las características tanto geográficas, poblacionales y económicas. Se inicia con una breve historia del cantón en la cual destaco su fundación y su independencia. Luego paso a explicar, cómo está estructurada la economía de Jipijapa. Destaco las principales actividades que realiza el cantón en las que se encuentra la actividad artesanal, el cual es el último tema que se aborda en el segundo capítulo.
This thesis is structured in three chapters ends with conclusions . In the first chapter I focus on explaining what the economy and agriculture, how they are classified , the way they relate to each ii yes and what is the importance of each. This chapter also addresses the issue of agriculture in Ecuador , establishing what characteristics and structure. Also indicated are the most relevant processes that were crossed Ecuadorian agriculture . Also, part of this first chapter the background and records we have of the Carludovica toquilla Palmata or global, national and local levels. Finally , mention what are the most important features of the manabita agriculture. Also the importance of cap straw in it. Finally , study and point out which sectors are in the province of Manabi devoted to the cultivation of straw shawl . The second chapter is focused on socioeconomics jipijapa Canton . Canton chosen as the center and hub for research , as this , in which the county was begun production of straw shawl and the production of straw hats . This chapter records both geographic, demographic and economic characteristics. It begins with a brief history of the canton in which I feature its foundation and independence. Then I will explain how it is structured jipijapa economy . I highlight the main activities of the county in which is located the craft , which is the last topic covered in the second chapter
